Episode 106: Alex Noriega
Alex is internationally recognised amongst the landscape photography community, having won multiple competitions in 2016. Most notably, Alex has been amongst the forefront of modern landscape photographers moving to a more intimate and abstract approach to nature photography. His ability to reduce the landscape to its essential form is widely regarded, which he now details in his new tutorial ‘Simplify’. For the last 3 years, Alex has been living a nomadic life travelling and capturing the contiguous United States. We talk about both the benefits of this lifestyle alongside the challenges it presents, and why this has led to Alex recently settling down in his new home in Utah. We also chat to Alex about how his journey in photography from IT began, including a formative road trip across America’s west that formed his passion for these vast desert landscapes; his inspirations from an older generation of landscape photographers; and much more.
